Acid Drops - Information

Acid Drops was a simple enough arcade game with a very abstract scenario. With no game plot to speak of, the player is only told what they have to shoot, how and the consequences if they don't!

There are three types of enemy to blast out of existence - moths, pods and spinners. Moths will drop bombs on the players ship, whilst pods and spinners will fire homing missiles. To cap it all, a leaky bath tub full of acid sits at the top of the screen. A gateway slowly opens on the right side of the screen, and the faster the player destroys the aliens, the sooner the gateway will open. Once through the gateway, the player then has to navigate a maze before they can reach the next level.

To make things a little more interesting (and to justify the eponymous game title), acid drops from the leaky bath. It will cost the player a life if it hits them, but if it hits an alien then they mutate! A moth will turn into a pod and a pod will turn into a spinner.
