Bird Strike - Memories

Bird Strike was Firebird's first BBC release, and was the third Telecomsoft release, with the production number 00003.

Although it was a shoot 'em up (with basic elements pinched from games like Galaxians, where the enemy ships flew down to attack the player), the musical element slowed the pace down somewhat.

The fact that only a direct hit would destroy a plane also made it a very frustrating game to play, even though that was deliberate to allow the plane to release a carrier pigeon when the plane's wings were clipped by gunfire.

The in-game music featured a rendition of "It's a long way to Tipperary".

The game was written by Andrew Frigaard, and was submitted to Firebird software in response to the advert that appeared in the computer magazines in the spring and summer of 1984.
