Legend of the Sword - hint sheet

This is a zipped pdf file of the hint sheet that Rainbird prepared for Legend of the Sword. It's nowhere near as comprehensive as the Level 9 hintsheets, but it was better than nothing!

The hint sheet mentions the Axeman in passing. This was the nickname for Paul Coppins, who worked at Telecomsoft and who used to be one of Keith Campbell's C&VG Adventure helpline assistants.

Paul was legendary for polishing off Infocom adventures for breakfast and Magnetic Scrolls games for elevenses! He'd often buy a new adventure and finish it overnight or over a weekend.

Legend of the Sword continues...

The sequel to Legend of the Sword was called The Final Battle and was published by PSS (one of Mirrorsoft's publishing labels) in 1990.

The Final Battle was once again developed by Silicon Software. Second time around the game had isometric location graphics.

The sequel was originally a text entry adventure, but the input method was switched to a point and click system (interacting with the location graphics) half-way through development.

A third part of the saga was on the drawing board (again with isometric location graphics) and was given the development title of Legend. Unfortunately, Silicon Software drifted apart before any real work could be done on the game.
