Gold Digger - Information

Gold Digger was another budget game that was 'inspired' by other games of that era, including the classic Dig Dug and Boulderdash.

The game was surprisingly difficult, with the 'miser' homing in on the player with startling speed and accuracy. The player really had to be quick to think, else they'd lose a life. Successful tactics depended on the miser that was chasing you. The first screen started with the red miser, and the second had two misers - one red and one green. The title screen showed four (green, blue, red and magenta), and each one took a different path to the player, (who was represented by a white spinning object for reasons unknown!).

The number of gold nuggets to collect on each screen was random, as was their positioning. If you were lucky, you only had to grab two or three nuggets to finish a level!

Gold Digger also featured music from the camp-song favourite Oh my darling clementine (rendition by Melvyn Wright) whilst loading from the cassette, and again on the title screen.
