Gyron - Information

At its heart, Gyron was a 3D maze game. The player controlled a vehicle called the Hedroid, which could hover up and down the trenches in the maze. The idea was to reach a certain goal within the maze. The Atrium was really a training maze, made easier to allow the player to get used to the controls and the general strategies required to win. The conclusion of The Atrium was locating the entrance to the second, inner maze - The Necropolis, which was much harder and required a great deal of thought. The ultimate goal was to reach the hidden Place of Wisdom.

Of course, floating through trenches in the maze would be boring if there weren't obstacles and destructive forces to get in the player's way. Giant balls patrolled the maze in set patterns, and they were deadly if the Hedroid collided with them. Towers also watched over the maze, and if they were facing in the right direction, they could blast the Hedroid.

Thankfully, the Hedroid came equipped with a short-range radar as well as a weapon that could be used against Towers. Single towers had a blind spot, so the Hedroid could sneak past without being detected. The player could also use the giant balls as cover and get further into the maze without being shot at. Shooting a tower from behind was the only way to destroy them, but their destruction would sometimes create a new tower or rotate another tower in a different direction, thus making the maze harder to complete!
