London HQ

Telecomsoft was originally based within Wellington House in central London. This office building was also used by other British Telecom departments. The photo of the outside of the office block shown below was taken by me in March 2006:

In June/July 1986, the company moved to New Oxford Street which is where it stayed for the next three years until the sale to Microprose.

The above photograph was taken by me in September 2000. What was the Telecomsoft offices can be seen on the first floor, above the computer shop (Morgan Computers). For those who know central London, the offices are almost directly opposite where the Forbidden Planet shop used to be in New Oxford Street, just a few minutes walk from Tottenham Court Road, Oxford Street and Charing Cross.

Back in 1988, a tell-tale sign that these were Telecomsoft's offices were the large round 'Carrier Command' stickers that adorned some of the windows!

The handful of employees still working in London (myself included) remained in the New Oxford Street Office for a month or two, but were then moved across London into a one room office located within an office block near Victoria.

The final London office location (shown above in a photo taken by me in March 2006) was only used for a few months before it too was vacated in mid-October 1989 and the remainder of the company was finally relocated to MicroProse's main offices in Tetbury, Gloucestershire.
